    • Seismic reflection (sub-bottom profiling) surveys

    The seismic reflection technique, based on the emission and reception of sound waves, is used to delineate the subsurface geometry, identify its structures (e.g., faulting), and infer its sedimentary nature. Our most common solutions are:

    • Structural, depositional and meta-attribute assessment of hydrocarbon and mineral reservoirs
    • Recognition of potential geohazards and anomalous subsurface conditions (e.g., gas chimneys)
    • Detection of big- and small-scale objects (e.g., rock outcrops, submarine pipelines/cables/outfalls)
    We specialize in single- and multi-channel seismic systems (e.g., chirp, boomer, sparker, airgun).

    • Bathymetric surveys

    The bathymetric technique, based on the emission and reception of sound waves, is used to measure the distance between the sea level and the seafloor, therefore to represent the seafloor relief and morphology. Our most common solutions are:

    • Generation of nautical charts
    • Monitoring of dredging, beach erosion, sea-level rise and hydrodynamic conditions
    • Detection of big- and small-scale objects (e.g., rock outcrops, sediment banks and reefs, submarine pipelines/cables/outfalls)
    We specialize in single- and multi-beam bathymetric systems.

    • Magnetometric surveys

    The magnetometric technique, based on the magnetic field strength, is used to detect objects because their magnetic properties (e.g., iron-bearing rocks such as magnetite, and man-made ferrous objects such as submarine pipelines). Our most common solutions are:

    • Characterize buried and semi-buried metal objects (e.g., anchors, shipwrecks, tanks, containers, submarine pipelines/cables/outfalls)
    • Estimate the depth and thickness of non-magnetic strata overlying magnetic rocks
    • Pollution studies in soils and sediments
    We specialize in single- and multi-sensor magnetometric systems.

    • Side scan sonar surveys

    The side scan sonar technique, based on the emission and reception of sound waves, is used to detect and infer textures of surficial and semi-buried objects (e.g., shipwrecks). Our most common solution are:

    • Characterize potential hazards to navigation (e.g., rock outcrops)
    • Locate and recognize biological features (e.g., submarine reefs, seagrass beds), man-made objects (e.g., archeological targets, shipwrecks, submarine pipelines/cables)
    • Deduce hydrodynamic conditions associated with sediment transport
    We specialize in single- and multi-frequency side scan sonar systems.

    • Sediments and soils quality studies

    These techniques are used to determine the physical, chemical and biological conditions of substrata in natural (e.g., lakes) and man-made habitats (e.g., aquariums) to assure their environmental status based on adequate quality standards. Our most common solutions are:

    • Characterize types and concentrations of pollutants (e.g., heavy metals)
    • Determine substratum properties (e.g., grain size, color, odor)
    • Generate spatial-temporal monitoring information of natural habitats to support indemnifications as result of environmental damages (e.g., massive oil spills)

    • Sediments and soils sampling surveys

    These techniques are used to recover sediments and soils to directly know their nature. Our most common solutions are:

    • Organize and prepare retrieved material samples to generate stratigraphic profiles and perform laboratory analyses (e.g., physical-chemical properties, water content, thermal resistivity, total metals)

    • Solve planning and monitoring problems (e.g., spatial-temporal surveillance of habitat monitoring, management of different projects in the same working area)

    These measurements are used to determine the physical-chemical properties of the water column and how fast water is moving across it. Our most common solutions are:

    • Characterize and quantify currents circulation (e.g., velocity, direction), directional waves, wave heights, sea level variations
    • Generate temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen profiles
    We specialize in CTD systems (e.g., rosette wheels), ADCP systems (e.g., anchored, towed by ships) and Niskin bottles.

    • - Quantification of subsurface sediment thickness
      Survey in a costal bay where the thickness of unconsolidated, muddy sediments was ∼6 m in water depths between 2-20 m. Analyzed data:

    • - Estimation of sedimentary nature
      Survey in a coastal bay where seabed was composed by laminated, muddy sediments (e.g., between e10 and e15) and seashell-bearing sediments (no laminations, between e20 and e22). Water depths between 2-20 m. Analyzed data:

      [2] multibeam bathymetry
      [3] jet probe groundtruthing

    • - Seismic reflectivity maping vs in-situ sediment samples
      Survey in a coastal bay where seabed reflectivity is higher ("harder", warm colors) in zones with coarser sediments (e.g., seashells) and lower ("softer", cold colors) in zones with fine-grained sediments (e.g., muds). Water depths between 2-20 m. Analyzed data:

    • - Seabed characterization
      Survey in a coastal area where rocky outcrops are located in the seabed and they represent a hazard for navigation. The proportion between visible rocky outcrops (i.e., seen from the sea level) and those that are submerged (i.e., below sea level) is of 1/10. Water depths between 2-15 m. Analyzed data:

    • - Infer coastal hydrodynamics and sediment transport
      Survey in a coastal area where sediment structures (e.g., sand waves) have been developed in the seabed, which are directly related to hydrodynamics conditions around man-made structures (e.g., maritime terminal). Water depths between 8-20 m. Analyzed data:

    • - Removal of lateral inconsistencies in seismic reflectivity
      Survey in a coastal bay where lateral inconsistencies problems in seismic data reflectivity were caused by time delays and swell (∼1.5 m). These problems were successfully solved. Bathymetric corrections were also applied. These corrections improved the continuity of the seabed reflectivity. Water depths between 2-20 m. Analyzed data:
